Bu sayfa nasıl okunur
Her madde bir kaynağın söylediğinin sadeleştirilmiş hâlidir. "Doğrulanmış" etiketi, aynı şeyi birbirinden bağımsız en az iki kurumun söylediği anlamına gelir; "ikincil kaynak" etiketi tek kurumun söylediği anlamına gelir. İkisi de yayınlanır, ikisi de etiketiyle durur.

According to NOAA/NWS measurements, 6 inches (15 cm) of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult, 12 inches (30 cm) carries away most cars and 2 feet (60 cm) carries away SUVs and trucks. Do not step into moving water and do not drive into it.

The water is deeper than it looks. Under it there may be broken pavement, a collapsed road, sharp objects, cables and chemicals; you cannot judge it by eye.

Do not use a closed road and never drive around barricades. The road may have collapsed under the water. Change your route.

If you are trapped in your vehicle, do not leave it: stay in the vehicle. Run the motor about 10 minutes each hour for heat; while running the motor, open the window a little for fresh air and clear snow from the exhaust pipe.

Stay off the roads if possible. Even if the roads just look wet they could still be slick; if you have to drive, slow down, make sure your vehicle is completely clear of ice or snow, and tell someone your route and destination.

Make yourself visible while you wait: turn on the dome light at night when running the engine, tie a bright colored cloth to your antenna, and raise the hood after the snow stops falling.

aşırı sıcak
-
Never leave anyone, person or animal, in a closed car, even with the windows down, even for just a minute. The temperature inside rises quickly to a dangerous level; a dark dashboard or car seat can reach 180 °F to over 200 °F (80 to 90 °C and above). Even on mild days in the 70s °F (around 20 °C) the inside of a parked vehicle becomes dangerous.

Always lock car doors and trunks, even at home, and keep the keys out of children reach. A child can get into the car alone and be trapped inside.

Touch a child safety seat and safety belt buckle with your hand before using it to ensure it is not too hot for the child; surfaces left in the sun can burn.

If a tornado catches you in a vehicle every option is risky; the source speaks only of slightly less dangerous ones. If the tornado is far away, visible and the road is clear, drive at right angles away from it. If you cannot get away, stay in the vehicle with your seat belt on, put your head down below the windows and cover it with your hands.
